Designovation

A custom Shopify storefront for a Copenhagen design-furniture retailer, wired to a real warehouse system.

Overview

Designovation was a København design-furniture and lighting retailer — a curated catalogue of brands like &Tradition, Fritz Hansen, Menu, Flos, and Vipp, backed by a showroom near Østerport. I built and ran their full Shopify storefront, from the theme layer down to the logistics integration that kept stock and orders in sync.

What I built

  • The full Shopify store, set up and launched end to end — catalogue structure, collections, navigation, payments, and checkout.
  • A warehouse integration with Ongoing WMS, so orders flowed straight into the warehouse for picking and fulfilment and stock levels stayed accurate on the storefront — no manual re-keying.
  • Custom sections and extensions on top of the Prestige theme, extending it well beyond its defaults: bespoke editorial layouts, brand and collection showcases, and campaign modules the team could rearrange themselves.

The approach

Prestige is a strong premium theme, but a furniture retailer with a deep brand catalogue needs more than the out-of-the-box building blocks. I built custom Liquid sections so merchandising could lead with big editorial imagery and seasonal campaigns (the new-year storefront above being one), while keeping the fast, accessible product pages the theme is known for.

The Ongoing WMS connection was the part that made it a real operation rather than just a website: it tied the storefront to physical inventory and an actual fulfilment workflow, which is what let a small team run a large designer catalogue.

Note: Designovation has since closed and the domain is now owned by someone else — the link above points to a Wayback Machine snapshot of the store as it was.
