Coda

Coda is my Welsh Corgi Pembroke, and coda.dk is his digital dog tag: a single-purpose page built to get him safely back home if he ever wanders off. Anyone who finds him can scan the tag or type the short URL to reach us right away.

The page puts one-tap call primary and call backup buttons front and centre so a finder never has to hunt for a phone number, supported by the key details at a glance: breed, a live-calculated age badge, microchip status, and temperament.

Built for the worst-case moment

A lost-dog page only works if it loads immediately on a stranger’s phone, even on a weak mobile connection, in either of the languages commonly spoken around Copenhagen. That meant keeping the build tiny and completely dependency-free:

• Vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no framework, no build step, and a near-zero payload.
• Bilingual out of the box with a Danish/English switch, making it easy for both locals and visitors to help.
• Responsive webp imagery served across a 200w–1400w srcset, with the hero photo preloaded for an instant first paint.
• Automatic light and dark themes via prefers-color-scheme, including matching theme-color browser chrome.
• A self-updating age badge calculated in the browser from his birth date, so the information never goes out of date.

The result is a calm, fast little site that stays quietly out of the way until the moment it really matters.
